Catherine Balavage (born 12 August 1984) is a Scottish actress, writer, and online magazine editor, originally from Lanarkshire, now based in London.
An actress since the age of 15, Balavage has appeared as supporting talent in many television series, beginning with the Scottish River City and including Luther, Soccer AM, Genie in the House, and Downton Abbey, in which she played a suffragette.[1]
On film, she appeared uncredited in Stephen Poliakoff's Glorious 39 (2009) with Bill Nighy, in Gurinder Chadha's It's a Wonderful Afterlife (2010), in Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll (2010) and as a Death Eater in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.[2][3]
In 2011, she appeared on stage in three Shakespeare productions by Sisters of the Apocalypse, all directed by Mary Tynan: she played one of the Three Witches in Macbeth, Rosalind in As You Like It, and Portia in The Merchant of Venice.[3]
She is also a writer, editing an online magazine called Frost.[4] She has unpublished poetry and short stories and is working on a novel.[5]
